The College has four houses which are named after significant men in the establishment of the school. The House Shield is competed for by the students of these houses.
Brother T Bourke was the first principal of Christian Brothers Manly, who saw a need in the Manly area to educate the Catholic boys. Brother T Bourke was the first principal of Christian Brothers Manly. He demonstrated the qualities of humbleness, humility, and reverence. Submit to one another out of reverence to God. (Ephesians 5:21).
Cardinal Moran established grounds in 1884 when he was installed. He built both St Patrick’s and the Cardinal’s Residence. His family coat of arms is a part of the stained glass windows in the palace. Moran was integral in the establishment of the Church and Catholic education in Australia. He demonstrated the qualities of leadership, responsibility and determination. You are responsible for your actions no matter what anybody else does.
Brother John Adrian Taylor was the second principal on the current site. He sought to seek excellence in all that he did. He was an esteemed leader of Catholic education going on to lead the NSW Catholic Education Commission, demonstrating the qualities of hard work and achieving results beyond his potential, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
Cardinal Gilroy was responsible for moving the College to the current site. He demonstrated the gifts of Christ through determination, generosity and respect. From Manly, he lived in the Cardinal’s Residence. Cardinal Gilroy emphasized that A good name is more desirable than great wealth, respect is better than silver or gold. (Proverbs 22:1)
All students are asked to follow in the wisdom of their house name, men who lived their lives following the messages of Christ in their everyday lives.
